Morgan Guillory won't be solving any new crimes anytime soon, and fans of "High Potential" will have to wait longer than they hoped for the third season premiere, as ABC won't bring back the Kaitlyn Olson-starring drama until next year.
The series' postponement was confirmed on May 12 when the network announced its fall 2026 TV lineup, which saw the series left out of other audience favorites like "Scrubs," "Abbott Elementary," "9-1-1" and "Grey's Anatomy."
The second season of the series "High Potential" ended in April.
“What we’ve seen over the last few years, and what we really demonstrated with ‘Will Trent’ and ‘The Rookie’ in the mid-seasons of 2024 and 2025, is that we want viewers to have the opportunity to watch these shows with as few interruptions as possible throughout the season,” explained ABC’s senior vice president of content strategy and programming Ari Goldman during a presentation on May 12.
"When we talk about midseason plans and when you think about the opportunities we have on the ABC schedule, from 'New Year's Rockin' Eve' to 'College Football Playoff', 'Grammy Awards', 'Academy Awards' and of course 'Super Bowl' - I think we have great momentum going into early 2027 to bring the series back in a big way," he said.
Citing the audience growth between the first and second seasons of "High Potential," Goldman added:
"It's clear that the series is resilient."
Thus, it can be concluded that this series has not been canceled, but rather the filming of the third season has only been postponed.
"High Potential" is based on the 2021 French and Belgian series "HPI." The series stars Kaitlin Olson as Morgan Guillory, an intellectually gifted cleaner who becomes a police consultant.
