Conan O'Brien has signed a contract for a third consecutive year as host of the Oscars, Disney announced.

O'Brien will host the 2027 Academy Awards, which will air live on ABC and Hulu on March 14, 2027, at 19 p.m. ET and 16 p.m. PT.

"Conan has created an extraordinary energy around the Oscars. His unique comedic voice makes Hollywood's biggest night one of the most entertaining events of the year," said Craig Erwich, president of Disney Television Group.

In addition to O'Brien, organizers have brought back producers Raj Kapoor and Katie Mullan for the fourth year in a row, as well as Jeff Ross and Mike Sweeney for the third year in a row. Sweeney will also serve as the ceremony's scriptwriter.

"Conan brings the signature humor that everyone loves, but also the warmth and generosity that is felt throughout the program. He is a true creative partner, someone we trust completely, and someone who makes the whole process genuinely fun, both behind the scenes and on stage. We are so grateful to continue to build this together and can't wait to show what's next," said Kapoor and Mulan.

O'Brien's third time hosting the Oscars means that both the Golden Globes and the Oscars will have the same hosts for the third year in a row. Two-time Golden Globes host Nikki Glaser also recently extended her contract for a third year as host of the ceremony.

Although O'Brien's 2027 engagement wasn't announced as quickly as his 2026 return, which was confirmed a little over two weeks after he hosted the 2025 Oscars, ABC and the Academy again secured a host for Hollywood's biggest night months in advance.

In an earlier interview, O'Brien explained why he accepts such challenges.

"There's a little bearded Viking inside me. It's been there since I was 10 years old. And when that Viking decides something, whether it's replacing David Letterman with no experience, skiing a difficult course I shouldn't be on, or hosting the Oscars, then it's going to happen," he explained.
