Turner will play Lara Croft for a long time

Actress Sophie Turner has revealed that she will be playing the character of Lara Croft for years in the upcoming adaptation of the “Tomb Raider” series being prepared by Amazon Prime Video.

Turner will play the famously fearless archaeologist in the new television adaptation of the popular video game. Filming for the first season is currently underway, with a premiere expected later this year.

Although it has not yet been officially confirmed that the series will get a second season, the actress has hinted that she expects to be tied to the role of Lara Croft for a long time.

“Right now my focus is on ‘Tomb Raider.’ I’ve been working on it for a long time and I’ll be working on it for a long time,” said Turner, who began preparing for the role back in 2024.

"I feel great doing this. I grew up on 'Game of Thrones' - television is my natural terrain and I love developing a character over the years. If it weren't for 'Game of Thrones', this would probably seem too demanding, but this is a real pleasure," she concluded.

Speaking about the character of Lara Croft, Turner pointed out that she is very different from herself.

“Without giving away too many details, there is a side of her that can be quite toxic, but there is also a part of her that is incredibly focused and determined,” she told The Telegraph.

"I, on the other hand, have ADHD and can't finish a task without forgetting what I'm doing and starting something else. I'm a huge panicker and neurotic person, which Lara is clearly not. But we're both obsessed with history," she added.

Earlier this year, Turner stressed that her version of Lara Croft would not be presented as a "sex symbol."

"The story is about her, her journey and what drives her, not about what many people love about her, how attractive she is in games and movies. I want to show another side of her. She is completely confident in her abilities. She is not a woman who hides her virtues or her strength," the actress explained.
