Actor Tyler Maine reveals he has breast cancer

Tyler Maine, known for his role as Sabretooth in the “X-Men” films, has revealed that he is suffering from an “extremely rare” form of breast cancer.

Maine announced in an Instagram post that he had been diagnosed with a disease that is mostly associated with women.

The 59-year-old former professional wrestler, who reprised his role as Sabretooth in “Deadpool & Wolverine” and the infamous Michael Myers in the “Halloween” horror films, said he initially wanted to keep his diagnosis a secret. “I have bad news: I’m starting chemotherapy today. One in 750 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime, and I’m one of them,” he said in the video.

In the description of the post, he stated that it is an "extremely rare" condition, explaining that only about one percent of breast cancer cases occur in men, which is why there is still a stigma surrounding the disease.

"I learned that men are more likely to have the disease detected at an advanced stage precisely because it is not talked about and symptoms are not looked for. In fact, all my doctors initially dismissed it, and it was only thanks to my wife insisting that I remove the lump that the disease was detected in time," he said, admitting that his first reaction was to hide the diagnosis.

“Honestly, at first I wanted to keep it to myself. It's kind of embarrassing.” However, after learning more about the disease, he decided to publicly raise awareness about the problem.
