Actress Anna Faris, star of the "Scary Movie" series, has revealed that a joke about US First Lady Melania Trump was cut from the latest film.
The sixth installment of the popular parody horror franchise, simply titled “Scary Movie,” pokes fun at topics such as raids conducted by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the #MeToo movement, the Epstein dossier, the feud between Kendrick Lamar and Drake, and many other current topics.
Faris returned to the series 20 years after her last appearance in “Scary Movie 4” and had a very clear idea of what her character, Cindy Campbell, had become during that time.
"I've always argued that Cindy is a classic MAGA (Donald Trump supporter) case that fell down the rabbit hole of conspiracy theories," she said.
"The type of person you might see outside Walmart during quarantine making some completely insane noise," the actress adds.
Given that the character was supposed to have conservative political beliefs, the actress revealed that she came up with the joke inspired by the Be Best campaign, Melania Trump's anti-bullying initiative that has often been the subject of criticism.
"There was a scene where I'm completely drunk, dead drunk... I'm sitting in my truck, I look in the rearview mirror and I say, 'Be your best, Cindy Campbell. Be your best.' That didn't make it into the movie, but I loved that little quip," she revealed.
Speaking about the humor in the film, Faris added:
"What's to be done? Are you going to be mad at Cindy? I'm playing the lead in a movie that is truly the most offensive movie ever made. I participate in offensive ideas myself. I think that's why I can do almost anything. It's freed me."
