BBC and BritBox are preparing a new television adaptation inspired by the works of Agatha Christie, namely her hero, Belgian detective Hercule Poirot.
In the title role of the series "Hercules", viewers will see Edvard Blumel, known for the projects "We Might Regret This", "Sex Education", "Killing Eve" and "My Lady Jane".
The project will consist of six one-hour episodes, written by Benji Walters, who has worked on the series “Code of Silence,” “The Leopard,” and “Obsession.” The first two episodes will be directed by Johnny Campbell, known for his work on “Am I Being Unreasonable?” and “Dracula,” as well as the BAFTA-winning series “In The Flesh.”
The new adaptation will not focus solely on solving crimes, but will also explore Poirot's personality and his life in Britain between the two world wars.
"I feel very fortunate to have been entrusted with the role of such an iconic character, played by so many great actors. I can't wait to continue Hercules' legacy," said Blumel.
