Although Netflix's biggest projects are series, such as "Squid Game" and "Stranger Things", this streaming platform is also capable of creating film franchises.
Most Netflix original films never get sequels, but one of their franchises is still going strong, Yahoo News reports.
"Enola Holmes" premiered in 2020 and at the time seemed like a pretty obvious attempt to capitalize on the popularity of some of the biggest stars Netflix had under contract. The film paired Millie Bobby Brown from "Stranger Things" with Henry Cavill from "The Witcher," and the result was a huge hit with audiences.
Now, six years later, the third film in the series is coming.
The new story takes place some time after the events of the second part. Enola, Sherlock Holmes' younger and energetic sister, is living happily with her boyfriend, before a series of events begins that lead her on a new adventure.
However, the most important information for the audience is that this series could continue for a long time.
Cavill is apparently willing to return to the role of Sherlock occasionally, and Bobbi Brown has become one of Netflix's faces, so there's little standing in the way of continuing the franchise.
But there is one important factor - the number of viewers.
Netflix is known for being very strict in deciding whether series and films will receive sequels, with the key criteria being viewership and audience engagement after release.
Therefore, the final decision will be known after the film "Enola Holmes 3" is released on July 1st.
