Harrison Ford turned down "Jurassic Park"

Director Steven Spielberg has confirmed that Harrison Ford turned down the role of Dr. Alan Grant in the film "Jurassic Park."

The legendary director is currently promoting his new film "Disclosure Day," and during an appearance on the podcast "Happy Sad Confused," he talked about interesting facts about his most famous films, including "ET the Extra-Terrestrial" and "Close Encounters of the Third Kind."

The host asked Spielberg if the long-standing story that Harrison Ford, with whom he collaborated on four "Indiana Jones" films, turned down the lead role in his 1993 hit was true.

"Yes, that's true. Maybe he doesn't remember it anymore, but I certainly do!", he confirmed.

When asked by actress Emily Blunt, who stars in the film "Disclosure Day," if that made him angry, he replied with a smile:

"I wasn't angry, I was broken!".

However, he believes that everything ended in the best possible way.

"Then Sam Neill became available, and he's Alan Grant! That role now belongs to him," Spielberg concluded.

Upon its release, "Jurassic Park" became the most successful film in the history of cinema, revolutionized the use of special effects, and launched a huge franchise that today includes seven films and numerous spin-off projects.
