Turner refuses to comment on claims he is the new James Bond

Callum Turner has refused to comment on rumors that he could become the new James Bond, despite growing public speculation.

Earlier this year, the "Eternity" star became one of the bookies' top favorites for the prestigious role. Bookmaker Coral announced in December that Turner was 7:4 odds to succeed Daniel Craig as 007, ahead of names like Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Henry Cavill.

He was asked about the rumors in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, after the search for the new Bond officially began last month.

In the same interview, George Clooney, who directed the film "The Boys in the Boat" in which Turner stars, said he thought he would make a "great" Bond.

"He's tall, handsome, charming and British, so he's the perfect man for the role," Clooney said.

As the process of selecting an actor for the new vision of the world's most famous spy, prepared by Denis Villeneuve, is already underway, Turner emphasized that he knows as much as anyone else.

"I know as much as you do," he said, declining to answer whether he would accept the role if offered.

"I won't comment on that," the actor said.

Still, he explained what it's like to deal with questions about Bond on a daily basis.

"You know what's the funniest thing about the whole Bond thing? Even your best friends are questioning you. People you haven't spoken to in ten years are calling you, and you don't know anything! It's a very strange situation where something is happening and nothing is happening at the same time. Honestly, I don't know anything. I find it all quite amusing," he explained.

Turner also spoke about his relationship with his wife, Dua Lipa, whom he married in an intimate ceremony in London on May 31st.

“You want to be inspired by the person you’re with,” he said of the popular singer.

Speaking about their busy work schedules, he added that they try to spend as much time together as possible.
