He wants Owen Cooper to replace him.

Actor Tom Holland has named Owen Cooper as his ideal successor for the role of Spider-Man.

The actor was speaking ahead of the release of “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” his fourth solo appearance as Peter Parker, aka Spider-Man, and his seventh appearance in the role overall (including cameos). Holland is the actor who has played Spider-Man for the longest time, both in terms of years and film appearances.

In a new interview, he was asked who, in his opinion, would be the best actor to take over the costume after he leaves the role.

“Owen Cooper would be great. He’s obviously extremely talented and is the talk of the town in the film industry right now,” Holland told Esquire.

Sixteen-year-old Cooper garnered a lot of attention with his debut role as troubled teenager Jamie Miller in the Netflix smash hit “Adolescence.” He won an Emmy for that role, and then went on to make notable appearances in “Wuthering Heights,” where he played a younger version of Jacob Elordi’s character, as well as in the television series “Film Club.”

His next role will be in the historical drama "Cry To Heaven", directed by Tom Ford.

In the same interview, Holland also talked about returning to his most famous role, and pointed out that he had a dilemma whether to sign a new contract.
