Davey Chase, who lent her voice to Lilo in Disney's original animated film "Lilo and Stitch" and terrified audiences as Samara Morgan in "The Ring," died Tuesday, according to TMZ at the age of 35.
Her boyfriend, who first broke the news of her death, told TMZ that she died of meningitis and a blood infection after being hospitalized in Los Angeles earlier this month for malnutrition.
Chase also lent her voice to the main character Chihiro Ogino in the English dub of the hit Japanese animated film "Spirited Away" by director Hayao Miyazaki.
In feature films, she is remembered for her terrifying role as Samara Morgan, the creepy girl who created the haunted videotape in the 2002 horror film "The Ring."
Part of Chase's performance was also used as archival footage in the 2005 sequel "The Ring Two," as well as in the 2017 film "Rings."
Chase also played Samantha Darko, the younger sister of the main character played by Jake Gyllenhaal in the film "Donnie Darko", and in 2009 she reprised the role in the direct-to-video sequel "S. Darko".
On television, she starred in the HBO series "Big Love" and lent her voice to the main character in the PBS Kids show "Betsy's Kindergarten Adventures."
Her last acting roles were in 2016.
