New "Deadpool" sequel hinted at

Actor Ryan Reynolds has confirmed that he is planning another "Deadpool" film, although he previously said that a sequel was not in the plans.

The actor has portrayed the iconic antihero in several highly successful films, most recently in 2024's "Deadpool & Wolverine." He is also expected to reprise the role in "Avengers: Doomsday," which hits theaters later this year.

While appearing at the Fanatics Fest event, Reynolds hinted that another standalone "Deadpool" film could still be made.

"There are some projects coming up, and eventually there will probably be another 'Deadpool' movie," Reynolds said during an onstage conversation.

His statement comes after he said earlier this year that Deadpool would likely have a supporting role in the future, and that a fourth standalone film was unlikely.

"I have something written, but I don't think I'll ever put it at the centre of a story again," he said earlier in an interview with Sunday Today.

"He's great as a supporting character. He works great when he's part of a team," the actor added at the time.

He previously explained to The Hollywood Reporter that he was moving away from the idea of ​​a new solo film, noting that the story works best when Deadpool is stripped of everything and pressed against a wall.

"I can't do it again. A fourth time would feel a bit repetitive and redundant. That doesn't mean the fun is gone, of course. There's still a story for Deadpool that can be fulfilling and powerful," Reynolds explained, adding that Deadpool works great when he appears alongside the X-Men or the Avengers, but that he always has to remain an outsider.

The film "Deadpool & Wolverine" was a huge commercial success, earning $1,3 billion at the global box office.
