Catherine Zeta-Jones will have to deal with a group of hitmen before they get to her in the new thriller series "Kill Jackie," reports Deadline.
The Oscar winner plays Jackie Price, the main character of the revenge thriller that will be available on the Prime Video platform.
Jackie is a former drug smuggler who believes she has escaped her dangerous past. However, her security is quickly shattered when she learns that a group of elite assassins known as the Seven Demons have been hired to eliminate her.
Aware that she doesn't have much time, Jackie sets out to confront her pursuers, determined to eliminate them one by one before they complete their task.
The series is based on the novel "The Price You Pay" by Sunday Times bestselling author Nick Harkaway, who published the book under the pseudonym Aidan Truhan. Harkaway also served as a consultant on the series.
The project was jointly conceived by Conor Keane, Tom Butterworth, known for the series "Gangs of London", Peter Lawson, who worked on the "John Wick" franchise, and Damon Thomas, director of the series "Killing Eve".
Unlike the novel, in which the main character is a man named Jack, the television adaptation features a female protagonist - Jackie, played by Catherine Zeta-Jones.
In addition to her, the series stars Ron Perlman, Sisse Babette Knudsen, Julian Barrett, Bill Patterson, Oscar Jaenada, Raf Lo, Daniel Ings, Kristin Adams, Julian Rhind-Tatt, and Jonathan Cake.
The eight-part series is being produced by Fremantle and Steel Springs Pictures, and is scheduled to premiere later this year.
