Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige unveiled the star-studded cast of the upcoming "X-Men" film at Disney's D23 fan event in California.
The biennial D23 convention is Disney's biggest event dedicated to showcasing upcoming films and television series, and the reveal of the "X-Men" cast was among the most anticipated announcements.
The stars of the film, which is set for release in May 2028, took to the stage in Anaheim. They included Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Keith Connor as Cyclops, Christopher Abbott as Professor X, Indy Navarrete as Rogue, Maya Boyd as Storm and Adam Driver as Nathaniel Milberry, also known as Mister Sinister, Reuters reports.
Disney also unveiled details for "Frozen 3," which begins as Anna prepares for her wedding and hits theaters in November next year. The first footage revealed a new female villain, whose identity and voice actress have not yet been revealed.
Kristen Bell, who voices Anna, and Idina Menzel, the voice of her sister Elsa, performed a new version of "Frozen Heart," while Josh Gad, who voices the live-action Olaf, premiered a new song, "Ooooh, Samantha."
Among other major announcements were the first footage from the film "Star Wars: Starfighter", starring Ryan Gosling, who is also involved in the upcoming Marvel Studios project "Ghost Rider".
Disney has released footage and announced that "VisionQuest," a Disney+ miniseries created by Terry Matalas based on the Marvel comic book character Vision, will premiere on October 14. The "WandaVision" spin-off series stars Paul Bettany reprising his role, alongside James Spader, who returns as Ultron.
Pixar's chief creative officer Pete Docter announced that "Incredibles 3" will be released in the summer of 2028, and the superhero family will reunite to face a powerful new villain.
"Now it's the children's turn," said the Doctor. "They sneak out at night to protect the city."
The doctor also provided details about the film "Coco 2", which takes place several years after the original 2017 animated film, set in the world of the dead, with the main character Miguel now a teenager.
Benjamin Brett, who voices the antagonist Ernesto de la Cruz, appeared on stage to talk about the sequel.
"Ernesto de la Cruz wants revenge and takes Miguel back to the world of the dead," Bret said of the film, which is scheduled to premiere in November 2029.
Dokter also said that an animated series based on the "Kingdom Hearts" video game franchise is in development, while the fourth installment of the Disney and Square Enix game will feature the world from the film "Coco." Footage shown at the event showed "Kingdom Hearts" protagonist Sora exploring the animated setting.
