German shepherd Garinčo Splitberg from Podgorica kennel "Grunemont" is the winner of the ninth international dog show of all breeds in Nikšić, organized by the Kennel Club "Trebjesa".

"We certainly represent one of the most successful kennels not only in Montenegro, but also in the region. This year we had dogs with high placements at the world championship that took place in

Nuremberg, and last weekend at the national championship of Serbia, our dogs won first and third place", said Ilija Radulović, one of the owners of the mentioned kennel.

According to his owner, Garinco is a young dog of 18 months and they expect a lot from him in the future.

"According to objective criteria, the German Shepherd is the most complete dog breed and old cynologists say that every dog's dream is to be a German Shepherd," said Radulović.

Second place went to Fredi Sutormanski, a miniature sharp-haired dachshund, owned by Kristina Marljukić from Bar.

"We decided on this breed because they are good for the house, they like to play with children, they don't shed. We regularly participate in exhibitions and so far he has won numerous awards in Italy, Russia, Montenegro and surrounding countries", said twelve-year-old Kristina.

Japanese Akita Kauting starmarmol, owned by Monika Ludovička from the Czech Republic, won third place.

Nemanja Damjanović from Nikšić decided on the Dogo Argentino breed because, as he said, the Argentine dog is known as a good friend and guardian.

"I have two sons who play with them all the time and I know that when I work, I leave the children in safe hands," said Damjanović, whose dog won second place at the aforementioned exhibition last year.

Ksenija and Lidija Glušica admit that they were won over by the Australian Shepherd and that they have seven dogs of that breed and one Sharplani, and they came to the exhibition with Freja.

"It is a very intelligent breed that is easy to work with in terms of training. They are excellent as pets and as workers, but also as exhibition dogs. For the last seven or eight years, we have been regularly participating in domestic and foreign exhibitions, and Freja's mother has won everything that can be won," Lidija said.

About 250 exhibitors from the country and abroad participated in the exhibition. As the organizers pointed out, they are pleased with the fact that in addition to guests from Russia, Italy, France, the Czech Republic and Ukraine, who almost regularly participate in the exhibitions organized by the mentioned society, this year for the first time exhibitors from Spain, Germany, Belgium and Hungary arrived .

Opening the exhibition, Milan Korać, Secretary of the Secretariat for Culture, Sports, Youth and Social Welfare, congratulated the "Trebjesa" Kennel Society, the oldest in Montenegro, for once again organizing a representative exhibition for all dog lovers. Good organization and respectable international canine judges, according to Korać, are one of the reasons why the number of exhibitors is increasing year by year.

"We are witnessing that the number of animal lovers in our city is growing day by day, which proves its loyalty and devotion to man every day, therefore I would appeal to our fellow citizens to treat their pets much more responsibly, because we are witnessing that despite the construction of the shelter for dogs, we still have an evident problem of stray dogs in the city", said Korać.

"Every year there are more and more participants from the former Yugoslav republics, for whom the same exhibition conditions apply as for domestic dog owners. Local exhibitors also come back to us easily, gaining habit and trust, and we try to have renowned international canine judges judge at this event, which contributes to maintaining a long and successful tradition", said the president of KD "Trebjes" Aleksandra Sjekloća Blagojević and added that the biggest they have had support from the Hunting Association of Montenegro since the beginning of organizing the event.

The main sponsor of the exhibition is the Premil brand, owned by Mitra Radulović from Podgorica, and Blagojević announced the Montenegrin Mountain Hound Special - "Memorial of Nikola Sjekloć" for September 25.

Sjekloća was the doyen of Yugoslav and Montenegrin cynology, the founder of the "Trebjesa" Kennel Society, and thanks to him, Montenegro got its own breed of dog for the first time - the Montenegrin mountain hound.
