Fahrudin Bravo is a taxi driver from Sarajevo who, not only in his city, but also throughout Europe, is known as a lover and rescuer of abandoned dogs.

For the Croatian portal Index.hr told how even as a child he was happiest when he could share a sandwich with an abandoned dog.

"I would pat him on the head, to show him that he is not alone in the world and that he, a nobody, is loved by someone. Although this did not meet with the approval of all my neighbors, I never allowed someone's hatred to destroy my sincere love for man's best friends. Over the years, I started to help more and stronger. I cannot leave abandoned, frightened, sick and often seriously injured dogs to the mercy of the streets. When I come across such an unfortunate creature, I take it home, feed it, bathe it, take it to the vet and treat it , and when they get stronger, I look for a home for the dogs where they will be happy. But it was increasingly difficult for me to balance the work of a taxi driver and helping four-legged friends. Of course, my love for animals prevailed and I rented my taxi," he told Index.hr .

...sick?...cold?...or hit by a car?...we don't know anything yet...they just told me that there is a guy who has been lying down for 2 days and doesn't move...somewhere.. .alone...alone in the world...

The years during which he helped a large number of dogs were marked by difficult and shocking, but also joyful moments.

When he found six satyr puppies a few years ago, he didn't think twice - he took them and took them home.

"During the first month, I had to replace their mother, I fed them every few hours, day and night, and luckily all six survived. When they were strong enough, with the help of friends who live abroad, I took care of all six babies found homes in England. But that's not the end of the story. Although they live in different parts of England, the families who adopted the six children from Sarajevo met and became friends, and even today they visit each other regularly, and they also created a joint Facebook page where they publish photos of their dogs and follow their lives," he said.

He proudly tells the story of a starving and flea-ridden dog he rescued and treated, and adopted in Germany.

Six months later, he received a message from the adopter that the dog had completed training as a rescue dog with the highest marks.

"At that moment, no one was happier and prouder than me. That's one of a million proofs that we need to help those wonderful beings who return us many times over for every kindness," says the Sarajevo taxi driver.

In taking care of stray dogs, Fahrudin has no help from his hometown. He does not have an association, he takes care of the dogs himself, and only sincere animal lovers help him. He is currently looking after Fr fifty abandoned dogs that he removed from the street.

"At my place, they have food and, if necessary, treatment, but most importantly, they have love that many of them have never met before. I look for homes all over Europe for the dogs I care for, but I am happiest when they are adopted in Slovenia and Croatia because it is relatively close to my Sarajevo, so I can often visit them," says Fahrudin.
