Japan's Robin Hood: Stealing money to feed cats

A Japanese man stole a total of $185.000 in one year to feed 121 cats with quality food.

Mamoru Demizu (48) is suspected of breaking into homes and stealing money and jewelry in 32 separate cases.

He admitted to the police that he stole the money to feed his "friends", spending $270,42 a day.

"He said he feels happiest when his cheek is next to a cat," says one of the officers.

Unemployed Demizu kept one animal at his home in Izumi, western Japan, and 20 in a nearby warehouse, while feeding another 100 neighborhood cats.

"He gave them fresh fish and chicken, not cheap canned food," the police said.
