That love knows no age was shown to an 83-year-old Czech woman and her 86-year-old neighbor, a widower from a small village, by the technological achievement of their children's and grandchildren's generation - they fell in love with each other via Skype.
Baba Jana received a computer from her daughter as a gift for her 80th birthday, but she ignored it for a long time for fear that she would not learn to use it.
"When my daughter got angry and started pulling the cables out of the socket to take it away, I finally told myself that I shouldn't be ashamed. That gift was so expensive," the old woman told Lidove novini.
She was most interested in the possibility of contacting via video chat provided by Skype. When she boasted to a neighbor from the same village whom she occasionally saw walking her dog and complained that she didn't have many contacts because many of her peers had died and her children were at work and didn't have time, he suggested that they talk on Skype sometimes.
The somewhat bizarre and amusing story of two neighbors from the same village talking via Skype quickly developed into love.
"That's how everything developed and now we've been living together for three years. Love blooms at every stage of life. We're very happy with each other," said grandfather Jan, who is still vital.
The young generation's fashion to bare their lives on social networks or in the media did not infect the couple in love from the central Czech Republic, and they asked the editorial office of the newspaper not to publish their full names and place of residence, even though everyone in the village calls them "a wonderful couple".
