An ad appeared on the British government's website in which the secret intelligence service MI6 is looking for a person for the job of a secret agent with a "license to kill", the Sky News website reports.
A salary of £50.000 – £60.000 was offered
The ad, which later turned out to be fake, was posted on Friday on the official website of the government, on the side of the Ministry of Labor and Pensions.
It said that a "target elimination specialist" was wanted, because the government from time to time "needs to remove people whose existence poses a risk to the effective enforcement of public order."
Special watches and mini submarines
Potential candidates were asked to be resourceful in "finding ways to accomplish their missions and, in some cases, be prepared to leave foreign countries in unconventional ways."
An MI6 spokeswoman said the British government did not want to recruit a killer
The selected candidate was supposed to be provided with special equipment such as special watches, mini-submarines and a gun of the type "Walter ppk", as used by the fictitious agent 007, James Bond.
A salary of 50.000 - 60.000 pounds was offered, as well as bonuses that follow after successfully completed tasks. The ad also said that it is "suitable for those who like their martinis shaken, not stirred."
An MI6 spokeswoman said the British government did not want to recruit a killer, the ad was fake and it was not known who placed it.
The ad was soon removed.
