A XNUMX-year-old dog who is half-deaf and blind has been hailed as a hero after helping police search for a three-year-old girl in Brisbane, Australia.
Max, the family dog watched over little Aurora for more than 16 hours after she went missing in the countryside not far from the family's home in Queensland.
The weather dog warmed and looked after the girl overnight until she was reunited with her parents, writes B92.
During those 16 hours, two helicopters searched for the girl, and as the temperature and darkness fell, the fear grew that she ended up in a ravine not far from the cottage.
Her grandmother Leisa Bennett spent a sleepless night looking for the little girl until after 16 p.m. she heard Max barking, leading them to the right place.
“We stood alone in the dark knowing that a three-year-old girl was out in the cold. It was not a situation where we would go back to sleep. Then I heard Max and her voice. "When I reached the end of the cliff, Max came to pick me up and took me to her," said her grandmother.
Fortunately, the girl was not seriously injured except for a few bruises from the fall.
The police awarded the dog an "honorary police dog" and published its photo on Facebook.
