Tropical storm Dorian, which is ravaging the Bahamas for the second day, has left hundreds of dogs on the streets of Nassau, the capital, without any protection.
Chela Phillips, whose house is spacious and built of solid material, and therefore resistant to wind blows, hosted almost a hundred abandoned dogs, reports N1.
Some were brought in from makeshift shelters for strays.
Pictures she posted on her Facebook show the living room and other rooms completely covered in dogs.
"At least they respect my bed and no one dared to jump on it," Chela wrote, among other things.
Puppies are separated from adult dogs, and special food is prepared for them.
Dogs, Chela writes, are generally calm and understand the complexity of the situation.
Some lived on the streets, and some will return to their homes after the storm, when their owners return.
