American reality star Kim Kardashian said she does not believe that a NASA crew was on the Moon in 1969, prompting the acting director of NASA to confirm the event, which has been the subject of conspiracy theories for decades.
"Yes, we've already been to the Moon... six times!" wrote X acting director Sean Duffy on the platform.
In the latest episode of her series "Keeping Up With the Kardashians," Kim Kardashian shared her skepticism about the 1969 Apollo 11 mission, during which American astronauts Buzz Aldrin (95) and Neil Armstrong (1930-2012) were the first people to walk on the moon.
"I'm going to send you a million articles with Buzz Aldrin and that other guy," Kim Kardashian told her co-star Sarah Paulson in the episode. She then read a quote she attributed to Aldrin, answering a question about the scariest moment of the mission.
"There wasn't a scary moment because it didn't happen. It could have been scary, but it wasn't because it didn't happen," she said, reading the text.
No details are provided about the articles referenced, nor is there any guarantee that this is indeed a statement by Aldrin.
Speaking to producers, Kim Kardashian again said that the space mission was a "lie" citing "several videos of Buzz Aldrin talking about how it didn't happen."
In her words, "Aldrin says it all the time in interviews now."
Duffy announced the Artemis mission to return Americans to the Moon.
"We won the last space race and we will win this one," Duffy added, inviting Kim Kardashian to the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, NASA's main launch center.
