Lewis Capaldi has admitted that he suffers from an unusual phobia. The 29-year-old Scottish singer-songwriter has been trying to overcome his fear of the ocean and everything that lives below the surface, known as thalassophobia, by swimming in the sea.
"I can't stand any sea creatures. I don't think I'm insulting any of them, I just hate them. I'm afraid of everything that lives in the sea. Normally I wouldn't even go in the water, but now I do," the musician admitted to the Daily Star.
Capaldi swam for the first time during his tour of Australia in December.
Late last year, Capaldi revealed that he planned to enter the studio in January to work on his next album. In November, he released the EP Survive, his first new material since 2023's Broken By Desire to Be Heavenly Sent, after which he took a break to focus on mental health and Tourette's syndrome.
Last summer he returned to music with a performance at the Emily Eavis Festival at Worthy Farm.
