Actor Rupert Grint, while visiting the Berlin Film Festival, spoke to reporters about the "rise of fascism" in Great Britain, and also touched on writer JK Rowling and her "anti-trans" statements.
Grint, best known for his role as Ron Weasley in the films based on Rowling's books, "Harry Potter", promoted his new film "Nightborn".
When asked by reporters what he thought about the rise of right-wing politics in his native country in recent years, he said he didn't like it.
"I'm obviously against it. But I choose the moments when I'm going to talk about it. I guess I'm a relevant person now, so you'll hear a lot of it from me," he said.
When it comes to Rowling, who disappointed fans of the Harry Potter universe with statements they consider transphobic, Grint said:
"I stand firmly with the trans community and share the sentiments expressed by many. Trans women are women. Trans men are men. Everyone should be able to live in love and without judgment."
