TikTok trend: Europeans mock American food

With the influx of large numbers of football fans from Europe, who arrived in North America to follow the World Cup, a new trend has started on the social network TikTok - Europeans visiting Walmart, one of the largest and most famous supermarket chains in the US.

The video clips are mostly humorous and show Europeans who are shocked by the foods they can find in these markets, as well as other American stores.

The videos most often show people marveling at the size of the products, from huge jars of cucumbers to gallons of milk to meat in tubes, but also the color of carbonated drinks, which, as social media users point out, "look radioactive."

Emiliano and Mateo, perhaps the most famous Italians on TikTok, couldn't resist participating in this trend themselves, so they posted a video in which they, with astonished expressions on their faces, show frozen pizza, canned ravioli and meatballs, huge packages of pasta...

Americans joined in on the joke, with comments like: "I didn't know we were so shameless," "FIFA brought the world to our country to show us how bad the food we eat is," "This is like having a guest rummaging through your cupboards," "I don't know why, but I feel like apologizing," "I just realized that now that everyone is here for the World Cup, I have a chance to find a husband and escape this hell," "Make sure you get your blood pressure checked when you get home, our food here is too bad."
