A fan of singer Olivia Rodrigo has revealed that the popular musician paid for her last semester of college.
Jamie Cosey, who recently graduated from the University of Alabama, said that a pop star once came across one of her videos on the social network TikTok and left a comment wishing her a happy birthday.
She later posted another video in which she talked about her experience as the first student in her family to attend college, as well as her struggles with high tuition costs during her final semester.
She says she shared the post to draw attention to her situation, not to elicit pity or ask for financial help from her followers. However, the post caught the attention of Olivia Rodrigo, who reached out to her privately and offered to help ease her financial burden.
"She told me that she loved my videos and that I was a source of positivity and light for her, and that she wanted to help me graduate. And she did," Kozi revealed in a video she posted this Sunday.
She also shared a screenshot of a message she received from the "Good 4 U" singer. Rodrigo asked if she could send her money via Venmo to help with her college tuition, and then paid her more than $5.
Kozi added in the latest video that she wanted to keep this gesture of kindness to herself until she graduated from college, because "she didn't want something that meant so much to her to become a public spectacle."
Addressing Rodrigo directly, the graduate student said:
"Olivia, I don't know if you'll ever understand how much this means to me. You made me feel like I belonged on this platform. You didn't owe me anything. You simply decided to show kindness to a complete stranger. You were always dedicated to helping others and that's something I will carry with me forever."
