Kemal Delalić: "Our sheep are still for slaughter"

In his skit, Dedalić talks about the strange things that are happening in the Una-Sana canton, where panic reigned after learning that any of the citizens could be a minister in the government, an assistant minister or the director of a cantonal institution, and he explained to the "News" what he led him to start working on satire.

Kemal Delaić, the frontman of the Bosnian band "Dede Putra", recorded a skit reminiscent of those we watched from the end of the 80s in the show "Top List of Surrealists", and was inspired by socio-political events in his country.

In his skit, Dedalić talks about the strange things that are happening in the Una-Sana canton, where panic reigned after learning that any of the citizens could be a minister in the government, an assistant minister or the director of a cantonal institution, and he explained to the "News" what he led him to start working on satire.

"Civil humor is widely known. People from Krajina are tough, but very hospitable, sassy, but very funny and have a great sense of humor. In some things, we are quite similar to the people in Montenegro. Proud, proud, but with a lot of humanity and a sense of humor. The story of the surrealists belongs to some past time, but if you were to look for similarities, it is mostly reflected in the fact that even in those few years when the surrealists were filming, the situation in the country at that time, that is, the area in which all of us ex-Yugoslavs live, was extremely tense, and we also know how and what it resulted in. First we laughed, then we cried. I hope it won't be like that this time," Delalić points out in an interview with Vijesti and adds that his skit is a consequence of the absurdity of the political situation, both in the Una-Sana Canton and in the entire country and region.

The government stopped caring about the welfare of the people a long time ago, and the interlocutor of "Vijesti2" believes that bad politicians are not the problem.

"The problem is who chooses. The last two mayors in Bihać ended up behind bars. Most of the voters who voted for those people still think they are innocent. The biggest irony is that people from the street are doing the best in politics today, and not those who went to school and graduated from political science," Delalić explains the situation. In his skit, citizens who know how to use a computer and have a university degree are "particularly at risk" of becoming ministers. However, in reality, the situation is different, and these are the most common people at the labor office. Delalić claims that he would never accept the position of minister.

"If I could choose, I would abolish the position of minister completely. I would terminate all their deputies, drivers and mistresses", he is harsh.

Humor has always been a good way to raise the awareness of citizens, but mostly everything ends up in retelling and imitating the same skits. Delalić hopes that this one of his will influence those who watch it.

"Politicians/ministers will have a good laugh as well as ordinary citizens - voters while watching the skit." Politicians/ministers in our country are mostly affected by hunting. And I personally would like this skit to stimulate the thinking of an ordinary person-voter, but considering that I browsed some comments on the Internet under the skit, the situation is not great. Sheep bleating is still in a dominant position, which is ultimately shown by the current socio-economic situation in the country and the countries of the region. "Unfortunately, our sheep are still for slaughter, that is, they are not pets", says Delalić.

After this skit, many calls and messages of support succeeded, but Delalić promises that recording such videos will not distract him from music.

"Recording skits is like a casual pastime for me. It should be pointed out that this sketch is not only my author's work and that there is another person behind it who wanted to remain anonymous. But I can say with certainty that this will not be the last and that there will be more, but to what extent I can't say," promises Delalić, who until now has also sent messages with his songs.

"Some people want to send a message with a skit, and some with a good song. I mostly did it through music. The point is to do what you love and what suits you best", concludes Delalić.
