Animal rights activist Nancy Holten has had her application for Swiss citizenship rejected because the country's officials didn't like her campaigning against cow bells.
Holten has lived in Switzerland since the age of eight, and was born in the Netherlands. She is a vegan and a spokesperson for animal rights, and many in Switzerland resent her because she is quite aggressive in her efforts to introduce some new measures.
Her application for citizenship has already been rejected twice, and as for her strange request to the authorities, she believes that the metal bells bother the cows and cause them injuries.
"It annoys us and does not respect our traditions," said Tanja Suter of the Swiss People's Party.
Holten is also a journalist, nodel and drama student, and also fights against hunting and pig racing.
