One of the concerts that will remain in the annals of Lake Fest was that of Bajaga and Instructor in 2013. The popular Belgrade musician apparently liked the atmosphere of Krupac so much that he and his team played perhaps the longest concert in the festival's history so far.
"It was great. A great atmosphere, a lot of people and the weather served us well. Everything was as it should be, without any complaints. And they tell me that every year Lake Fest gets better and better, so I expect an even hotter atmosphere at our upcoming performance," said Momčilo Bajagić for "Vijesti" ahead of his performance at the Nikšić festival on August 11.
"I don't believe that it will be something completely new, but it will be a different repertoire than last time. This summer we are playing at several festivals and we have made a good program with a selection of hits from our entire career, so it will certainly be interesting for everyone who comes," the well-known musician, who started his career in the cult band Riblja chorba, is convinced.
Bajaga and the Instructors spent almost the entire summer on the road, since they had, and have many concerts coming up in the former YU area.
The author of hits such as "Blue Sapphire" and "On the Other Side of the Pillow" says he still doesn't feel tired from spending most of his life traveling from concert to concert.
"We're kind of used to it. I've been doing it for almost 40 years. We don't have too many gigs, but there are a lot of them. We spend most of our time on the road, because it's not like it used to be to play from place to place that is close by. During the summer, we played in five or six countries and we'll still be playing around. Regardless of everything, we still enjoy it, so we enjoy the concerts," he points out.
Among the upcoming performances, it stands out that on September 24, Bajaga will play in Hungary for the first time in his career, although he practically toured the planet with the band.
"We play in a club in Budapest where many cult bands performed. I once played in Hungary, but I'm alone, so here's an opportunity to play with the band," says the musician.
He points out that he was not the only guest in South America, and that wherever he goes he feels at home.
"We covered all the other continents and it was good for us everywhere: from Denmark, America, Australia, South Africa, we even had concerts in Asia. We still have South America to cross off. (laughs) We mostly play for our people, from the ex Yu space, although there are also foreigners. We've been doing it for so long that even when we go somewhere far away, it's certainly not our first time and we feel at home everywhere," he assures.
At Lake Fest, the audience will not have the opportunity to hear anything new, but Bajaga says that he is constantly working on new songs.
It's been almost four years since the last album "Distance, dim and dust" and the famous musician thinks it's time to start work on the next one.
"I have a bunch of songs started, so maybe in the fall we'll sit down, get it together and make some new recordings. By the end of the year, I hope we'll start working on a new album," he says.
As far as performances in Montenegro are concerned, it is possible that this one in Krupac will not be Bajaga's last visit this summer.
"There are always invitations and contacts. We now have Nikšić, and as far as I know, it is possible that at the end of August we will also play in Petrovac. That's it as far as performances in the near future are concerned," reveals the musician.
With his son, he is going to see "Red Star" off to Europe
It has long been known that Bajaga is a big fan of Crvena Zvezda, and his song "Od kada tebe volim" was used in the film directed by Jug Radivojević to celebrate 25 years since the Belgrade football club won the Champions League (then the European Champions Cup), after defeating the French Olympique Marseille in Bari.
"Yes, I've been a star for a long time and I was also in the Zvezda assembly and I'm glad that I could contribute a little to that film. I remember, of course, the conquest of Europe. I wasn't in Bari, but we followed it on TV, we were in Slovenia and watched the game. But I watched live the iconic semi-final in Belgrade (against Bayern Munich). I followed everything then, regularly went to the games and I hope that such glorious times will return for Zvezda," said the musician.
After several years of fasting when it comes to participation in European cups, fans are optimistic that this summer Zvezda, under the leadership of Montenegrin coach Miodrag Božović, could return to the biggest stage. And Bajaga shares that optimism with them and is excitedly looking forward to the rematch against the Bulgarian champion Ludogorets in the Champions League qualifiers.
"Evo Zvezda seems to me to have a chance to return to the European scene, greater than ever in recent years. I have already secured tickets for me and my son for this second leg, so we will be at the Maracana on Tuesday," he announced.
