Viva vox, the most popular choir in the Balkans, will visit Montenegro again this summer. Namely, thirty members of this choir will hold three concerts - on July 6 in Tivat, two days later on the terrace of KIC "Budo Tomović" in Podgorica, and the mini-tour will end on Saturday, July 9 in Herceg Novi.
One of the members of the choir, Srđan Mladenović, told Vijesti that it became unthinkable for Viva vox members not to perform in Montenegro during the summer.
"Since 2012, the choir has traditionally performed in Montenegro in the summer. We have been several times during the New Year holidays. It means the great support we have at every performance in Montenegro, as well as invitations to perform again in the city we have already visited, to which we are happy to respond", he said.
Before Viva vox was formed, the "choir" was an association for a bunch of people dressed the same with a uniform repertoire, but with their appearance, everything changed. At first, Mladenović admits, it was not easy for them to popularize this genre and thereby fight for their place.
"Doing music in these areas is difficult. Especially with music that is not that popular. But, nevertheless, with great effort, practice and persistence, we managed to deny it. The audience likes quality things, they know that they value hard work, they recognize positive energy, and we return that to them at our performances," claims Mladenović.
Viva vox not only popularized choral music and presented it in a different light, but managed to fill the Belgrade Arena, and recorded performances at all major festivals, including Exit and Sea Dance. It was formed 11 years ago, and even though they have performed countless times, they still have a great time on stage, says Mladenović.
"We haven't gotten tired of that energy and performance yet. Every new concert, new period or year brings something new. We try to work on ourselves constantly, and we enrich our performance with new "impossible" tracks and choreographies. It amuses us and always gives us a new motive for further work", admits Mladenović.
Singing without musical accompaniment is sometimes a problem even for the best, because then the false tones are best heard. The interlocutor of Vijesti admits that they also "get away" with such a tone, even though they are trained, but he is pleased by the fact that it does not happen often.
"Every performance and setting is different, so we always have to be maximally focused and ready for unforeseen situations," says Mladenović.
500 candidates applied for the audition for new members
With popularity usually comes people's desire to sing in the choir, and Viva vox members are ready to cross voices with new members.
“We are in the process of finishing the auditions for new members. A shortlist of great voices has been made, from over 500 applicants that we had at the beginning. Now it's time for trial work with potential new members, and the best ones will join our concerts in the coming months", promises Mladenović.
Viva vox has about thirty members, and when asked how they choose those who will sing at concerts, he answers:
"For now, there are so many of us that all members, if they can, perform. Due to the large number of concerts we have throughout the year, the audience can hear and see between 30 and 35 singers on stage," he reveals.
