Croatian band "Pavel", after last year's successful single "After us", with which they also participated in the Zagreb Festival, last week pleased the audience with a new song. It is the track "Vrijeme života", and the author of the track and founder of Pavel, Aljoša Šerić, is satisfied with the first reactions.
"The reactions are nice, the song is energetic, moving, regardless of the heaps of bad things we are surrounded by, I am convinced that at least once a day we can all come across a moment for which we will say, ok, this is good, because of this the day is worth it about a song and a speech", Serić points out at the beginning of the conversation.
He just announced to the interviewing Vijesti with the last single "After us" that in the coming period the audience expects many different songs from Pavel, so he promised that the next album they are preparing will be the most colorful yet. That's why the country sound in the track "Vrijeme života" did not surprise the fans, according to Šerić.
"We have already flirted with country on several occasions. I love country and Americana, the older I get the more I prefer American music versus British music. What you listen to inevitably finds its way into the songs you write," explains Šerić.
The song "Vrijeme života" is cheerful and the author celebrates life with it, and the lyrics also contain advice, but Šerić explains how the audience should understand the song:
"Celebrating life, that is, focusing on moments, pieces of time instead of the whole, is a primordial aspiration. People, thank God, have a strong instinct for survival, Benigni's 'La vita e bella' comes to mind as a good example, so I don't think the song should be understood as advice, but as a statement," he believes.
In one verse of the track, the author says "we learn from mistakes", and when asked how much he himself learned from his mistakes, he admits:
“Very often. Sometimes the same mistake should be repeated more than once, why not, especially with stubborn, yogunas".
The new single is slowly winning the hearts of the audience, but Pavel with the track "After us" is still occupying the airwaves, so the mentioned song is still one of the most broadcasted singles in ex-Yu venues. In the time of hyperproduction, Serić is glad that he did not make a hit that is quickly forgotten and that his music does not have a "shelf life" of a month or two.
"That is the only goal. I've never shot hits, nor can I write them. The basic criterion is to satisfy myself, to make my hair stand on end with my song, if I can do it, that is, with a hair, then there must be at least one other person with the same physical reaction", he is sure.
The album they are preparing will contain, as Šerić promises, "ten beautiful songs".
“I'm hoping for another Christmas song. I've been wanting to write a Christmas song for a long time and it just never happened. It seems to me that now I have something that is worth it, these days we are going to shoot it. Namely, I adore everything Christmas, I'm totally crazy about plastic decorations, and especially I fall for Christmas songs, so I put quite a burden on myself", he admits.
The fact that he and the singer and his wife Antonija are expecting a baby will not interfere with the work on new songs.
"She can always sing, but we definitely have to think about promotion, so the album will certainly not be out before February 2017, so that in the summer of that year Antonija will be completely ready for concerts," says Šerić, who promised that on the new album, when singing in question give Antonia more space.
"We are nearing the end of the recording, and Antonija sings on half of the album, I fulfilled my promise," Šerić is proud.
But before they record and perform the other tracks, they plan to screen the current single "Vrijeme života".
"Siniša Hajduk, the man who produced an excellent music show 'Shlep Show' on HTV, is the director of our music video, and I hope it will come out in the spirit of the song, cheerful and energetic," promises Šerić.

Šerić, who is the author of many songs, not only for the bands Pavel and the former Ramirez, but also for other artists, recently admitted on his Facebook status that sometimes he feels like shouting "this is mine", singing Massimo Savić's track "Three Pictures". When asked if he ever regretted giving the song to a colleague, he answered:
"Rarely, only if the arrangement turns out differently than I imagined. Mostly the colleagues I write to feel the same way about the song, and then in the end it usually sounds exactly the way I imagined it. When I write for others, it's always up to them and I let them dress up the song as they want, I don't interfere in the production. And this for shouting, that need arises only when I am very proud of the end result, as in the case of the song 'Three Pictures' sung by Massimo and played by Edin Karamazov".
