Fundraising campaign for Marija Božović's new album has begun

The campaign to collect money for the new album of the Montenegrin singer Marija Božović, who performs under the pseudonym Maria B, started today and will last 45 days via "crowdfunding" platform Indiegogo.

She became the first Montenegrin musician who will try to raise money for her release in this way. The term "crowdfunding" is still fresh in these areas, and it implies the possibility for the public to donate money via the Internet for projects they consider worthwhile.

This trend is becoming increasingly popular globally and many artists have turned to this way of raising funds for their work. And Božović admits that she didn't know about "crowdfunding" platforms until recently, and says that a friend discovered their existence at the exact moment when she was thinking about how to raise money for a new album.

She says that this way is nicer for her than if she had found sponsors, because the audience will decide based on her songs and talent whether Božović deserves to record a new album. The campaign bears the new name of her upcoming album "Determination", translated from English as "determination", which Marija says is one of her most beautiful characteristics.

The figure that is the goal is 24 thousand dollars, and this amount includes the costs of recording, mixing, mastering, publishing and screening the songs, paying for the music for them, the costs of the advertising campaign, as well as for various gifts that everyone who supports the campaign will receive financially, wherever were on the planet, the singer points out.

She emphasized that the campaign will be completely transparent, and that the audience will be able to see their donation and the total amount of money collected at any time. After 45 days, according to Božović, Indiegogo will process the payments and it will be known how much has been collected.

And those who donate money will help the album "Determination" to see the light of day, which, as Božović revealed to us, will contain nine songs.

Among them are "Standing Still" and the title track, which the audience partially already had the opportunity to hear on Marija B's YouTube channel.

"Those two songs are half-finished, two more have vocals and lyrics, but they haven't been recorded. And four more have only music, while the ninth song will be a remix of 'Misbehave'. Luckily I had those two songs, because it's very important to people who they're participating in the campaign to have something tangible, to hear the direction I'm going in. I couldn't give the whole songs away for free download, but I think this is a big enough piece for people to get a feel for what it's all about," she explains.

On the album, as she revealed, she will collaborate with the Podgorica producer and associate of the "Who See" band Rhino, who made the music for the mentioned "Standing Still", the producers of the famous Serbian hip hop label "Bassivity", Rex Regis and the band Deep Thoughts.

"It will be colorful - a fusion of electronics, soul, hip hop, the kind of music I love the most," the singer points out.
