"In these areas, only music can help us to heal and recover. I wish there were more things to do, but for now only music succeeds, with which a lot can be achieved", said Amira Medunjanin after meeting the audience on Monday evening at the Kanli tower as part of the Guitar art summer fest program.
The artist with a fascinating voice that made some in the audience cry, explains that she doesn't like the word concert and that for her every performance is, in fact, socializing with the audience.
He points out that it is important that there is a musical renaissance in the Balkans and a return to "the beautiful values that we have in abundance".
With the statement that Vlatko Stefanovski and Miroslav Tadić have been playing and promoting this music for years, Medunjanin thinks that "some kind of progress is being made and that the image of us is improving, as much as possible", as evidenced by the feedback he receives from the audience from abroad. .
In 2012, the artist, whom critics say is Blakan's Billie Holiday, received a project from the London Olympic Committee, according to which she was in charge of creating the accompanying program for the Summer Games.
"The idea was that all countries participating in the games had one representative, and my task was to "bring together the artists of the Western Balkans". I created a band with 10 musicians from ten Balkan countries. Accordionist Predrag Janković was from Montenegro. After only two years we had a concert in Trafagar Square".
The project received all the praise and was rated as successful. After that, the idea was born to found an association of musicians that would deal with the traditional music of the Balkans, but it was never realized.
Amira hopes that this idea will come true, because she is still in contact with all the musicians. She also states that the inspiration for her published CD Silk and stone was the people and nations that live in our area.
"I came up with the title silk and stone, it was the basis for the journey that lasted 13 hours in the Lisinski concert hall, where we recorded and had a studio atmosphere. All my songs, depending on the moment, are life, memories and memories, music is also my therapy," says Medunjanin.
The Antonio Chainho fado quartet will perform on the 10 GASF program on Wednesday at 20 pm at the Kanli tower.
