Zoster: Better to be known for constructive things

It's crazy that people from this area are still arguing about things that happened a hundred years ago, believes Mario Knezović, the frontman of the band Zoster, who dedicated a song to Gavril Princip on the current album, about which commentators on YouTube and social networks have been crossing spears for months. .

In the conversation regarding Zoster's performance at the International Theater Festival, which according to the organizers' announcement will take place on September 5 in Podgorica, Knezović was particularly inspired to talk about the audience's reactions to the song "Gavrilo" and the endless fights on a national basis that rule these areas.

"That's what the song is about, about defining something. Why should I have to define whether he is a criminal or not? We didn't want to take a stand, just to tell the story of a young man who had ideals for which he risked his life and took someone else's. One can admire that, on the other hand, just taking a life is heinous, even for the worst among us," says Knezović.

He believes that it is stupid from today's perspective to look at something that happened a hundred years ago.

"It is the event that defined us, in the world Sarajevo is better known for that assassination than for the Olympic Games. I would prefer that we are known for some more constructive things, not more destructive. But that is our heritage and we must not I just think that we should get to that level where we can look at all this impartially, without emotion, to stop glorifying and tarnishing it, just to accept that it is part of our history, that's how it was it rained one year," the singer says with a laugh.

The album "Srce uzavrelo", on which "Gavrilo" was found, will be the basis of Zoster's performance at FIAT, because the band from Mostar in Montenegro has not presented new songs so far.

Since the release of the new album, Zoster has presented it all around and Knezović says that their schedule is full until September.

"People are singing songs from the new album at concerts. Everything is new for us too. We are getting along, just like football teams are getting along now, the season has yet to start. So I think we will come to Montenegro in the best shape," he announced. is Knezović.

"Srce zavrelo" is characterized by a somewhat different sound compared to previous releases by Zoster, a turn from reggae and humorous songs to somewhat more serious tracks with a guitar sound.

"People react well, basically they don't mind the new sound. That's the point, that it all comes naturally. And we followed that path, that sound came naturally to us, we didn't think in advance to play like that, but we simply felt that it it should sound like that," explains Knezović.

So far, several songs have already been screened, and the singer announced that the next video will be for the song "Cocaine and Abel".

As for the performance at FIAT, Knezović believes that Zoster will be there in the natural territory.

"I did some musical performances, and Atila (Aksoj - guitarist) regularly works for a puppet theater, so we are very connected to that. And I think that there is theater in our music. It is a good idea to make some rock opera, but we are not capable to do it ourselves, we need someone from outside, some expert to come and shape it," the singer believes.

This year's jubilee FIAT, which will mark thirty years since its foundation, will be held from September 5 to 15 in Podgorica, and Zoster will open it with a concert on the terrace of the KIC "Budo Tomović".
