Zoran Predin, the respected Slovenian singer-songwriter and former frontman of the band "Lačni Franz", announced his new studio album "Silver hair", titled after the song he published a few months ago and dedicated it to his friend, the deceased EKV keyboard player Margita Stefanović.
"For three days we recorded basic instruments, on electronic loops made by the famous Iztok Turk (Videosex, Laibach). My long-time tone master Danilo Ženko said I have a top team. Next week we record vocals, maybe a few more instruments and the album will be ready for the mix," Predin told "Vijesti" immediately after leaving the studio.
The album will contain 11 songs, which, as Predin says, sing about everyday things. According to him, there will be a lot of poetry, some black humor and a lot of erotica, and the sound of the new material could be classified as so-called. "world music" - something between Gotan Project and Les Negress Vertes.
Given that the title track is dedicated to Margita Stefanović, the question arises whether the album will be dedicated to the "new wave" generation to which she and Predin belonged.
"Of course, with a bit of positive nostalgia. The album will in a way start the New New Wave. Music and lyrics without limits," answers Predin.
The Slovenian singer-songwriter has been in music for over 30 years, and he says that everything has changed in the meantime - only the love for music has remained the same.
"Recordings and concerts are my life. Today, I can take a shorter route to get from an idea to a good song. It used to take me longer," he explains.
Looking back on the "new wave" and the good old days when, as some claim, rock and roll worthy of the strongest rock scenes in the world was played in Yugoslavia is nothing new. Predin claims that the glorification of the "new wave" is justified.
"That music remained alive and pure. It did not compromise itself politically. The situation is ripe for a new musical era. Economically and socially, we are stuck in complacency, while white world capital buys our water and food. We must rebel as soon as possible. Europe is an old kitchen," he believes.
Another thing that is not new is that the musicians who marked epochs and who have three decades of successful careers behind them have never played in Montenegro. Predin is one of those and says that he would be happy to come, just waiting for the invitation. However, he would be performing solo, not reuniting the old group.
"Lacny Franz is retired. The boys play table tennis and enjoy old photo albums," he says.
The album "Silver Hair" will be released on October 15.
