Bosnian-Herzegovinian vocalist Amira Medunjanin presented herself to the Podgorica audience for the second time in a short period of time with last night's performance at KIC Budo Tomović, after the concert she held at Skaline this summer. Bosnian Billie Holiday, as she is called, performed tracks from her three albums, the current one of which is "Amulette", released last year, and her repertoire also includes Sevdalinka from Montenegro.
Amira came on stage smiling, in a blue dress, followed by loud applause. Already at the start, her blood-curdling voice and the virtuosity of guitarist Boško Jovović enchanted the audience, who followed the entire concert with close attention. Each song was rewarded with long applause, the audience was not even shy to join Amira in singing. The vocalist treated the attendees like a host, saying that she was happy to be a part of the December music scene in KIC.
"Tonight we will give you a part of our soul, stories about our people. These are the songs that best show what kind of people we are," she said.
The intimate atmosphere was also contributed to by the small Dodesta hall, which was filled to the brim, and the impression is that it would not be any different even in a larger space.
"I wish I could see you," she said, commenting on the darkened hall, after which someone remarked that it was better not to see, which caused bursts of laughter. Then the lights came on, Amira said: "It's better now, I know who I'm singing to".
She said that her guitarist is like a whole orchestra. "He wasn't driving, he was sleeping in the back seat, so he was rested," and then she sang "Come on, Jano."
This is how the concert went - intoxicating melodies and Amira Medunjanin's jokes after them.
