Bosnian-Herzegovinian vocal artist Amira Medunjanin will hold a concert tonight in the DODEST hall, KIC "Budo Tomović". Medunjanin will perform as part of the DEUS event.
This sevdalinka artist that she sings heard from her mother, and she has built her own performance style, bringing the performances to perfection. Bosnian Billie Holiday, as music journalists call her, has released three studio albums so far, and the promotion of the current "Amulette", released in October 2011, is still ongoing. Amira was named the most successful female vocalist by the French foundation "Fondation Orange" at the prestigious competition "La voix de Babel Med Music 2012."
Amira delighted the Podgorica audience with her performance last summer, and about what impressions she has from that concert, she tells Vijesti:
"The summer concert was really a nice gathering. I am extremely glad that I encountered such warm hospitality. Once again, a big thank you to all the people who took their time and came to share with us their joy, sadness, longing, love. All those feelings there was no missing that night, which will truly remain in my fond memory forever," she recalled.
The mentioned concert was organized together with the Embassy of Greece, so some performers from that country also performed at Skaline, while Amira performed the same evening with guitarist Boško Jović, who will also accompany her tonight at KIC.
"This time we will have the opportunity to present ourselves in a more intimate space. It is difficult for me to say at this moment how and where the song will take us. It all depends on the moment, the feelings, the openness of the audience, and the inexplicable magic that happens when telling stories which have been created for centuries," she explains.
In addition to the Bosnian sevdalinka, thanks to whose interpretation she is known, tonight Amira prepared a surprise for the audience. Namely, sevdalinka from this area will also sing.
"Songs from Montenegro are also an integral part of the repertoire. I sincerely and from the bottom of my heart look forward to coming to Podgorica again," she claims.
Amira Medunjanin's concert will start at 20 p.m.
