Recently, we are proud of the successes of the Kotor group Who See, as well as the good reception of the single released by Maria B (Marija Božović).
In both cases, producer Igor Burzan, known to the public as MC Rhino, had his fingers involved.
It was he who made the music for the album "Krš i drača" for the members of Who See and guested on the now famous single "Reggaeton Montenegro". The duo from Kotor recently won a regional MTV award.
Rhino also designed the beat for Mariah's “Misbehave,” a single currently at number four on MTV's regional Housewives chart.
As he told Vijesti, after the success with Kotorani, Rhino expected that.
"I may sound cocky, but I have ears,
"She (Maria B) and I have been friends for a long time and even 10 years ago we were listening to r'n'b together. Probably, when she decided on pop music, she had no alternative, but you can hear from her voice that she is a natural r 'n'b singer. She herself participated in the creation of the song, wrote the lyrics, designed the melody"
Because like this, Marija is a direct competitor to world r'n'b stars and that was the only worm of doubt that tormented me. However, fortunately, that didn't happen, and I'm sure that the song can climb a few steps higher on Domačica and that it will reach the second place", MC Rhino points out.
Regardless of the fact that until "Misbehave" Marija performed mainly pop songs, it was not difficult for him to work with her.
"She and I have been friends for a long time and even 10 years ago we were listening to r'n'b together. It is likely that when she decided on pop music, she had no alternative, but you can hear from her voice that she is a natural r'n'b She participated in the creation of the song herself, wrote the lyrics, and devised the melody.
That's why it was easy to work with her. Well, now, if another pop singer who doesn't listen to this kind of music came to me and I could make a song for her, the only thing that would force me to do it, and maybe that, would be a bad financial situation," asserts Rhino and adds: "RNB is sung with soul and heart, which is heard in Maria.
It cannot be faked. You have to be from that story to do this music," adds Rhino.
However, he could not assess whether Marija would achieve the success of "Who See", which, with the hit "Reggaeton Montenegro", was at the top of MTV's list for several weeks.
"Few people know that we wanted to remove that song from the album 'Krš i drača'", recalls Rhino and explains that when it comes to success, there are no standards.
When asked how it is that the Montenegrin hip hop scene made such a boom only this year, he answers that it is the result of many years of work.
Who See
"I think we have all matured during this time. We studied a lot, worked to raise the hip hop scene to the level it is now. Success, although it may seem so to many, did not happen overnight.
It is the fruit of painstaking work, which lasted over ten years. However, we also have talent, so we had something to build on, so the success is no accident," explains Rhino.
Many would come, but they are far away
"...In our (hip hop and r'n'b) music scene, there is no big money, so we will wait for those regional collaborations"
After the regional success of "Reggaeton", MC Rhin was invited by numerous performers from Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina to work for them.
"I'm appealing to the government to build a highway, because many people have contacted me with the story of how I'm doing a great job and that they like what I'm doing, but I'm far away.
So the remaining agreements are to cooperate when they come to Montenegro for a gig, so they use the opportunity to record something new.
However, our (hip hop and r'n'b) music scene doesn't make big money, so we'll wait for those regional collaborations.
Although, as far as work is concerned, I'm not complaining. I have a lot of it working for our artists as well," Rhino is modest.
The following project works for itself
"I think that the classic hip hop audience will be overwhelmed by my songs, because what I do sometimes goes into classical, jazz, trance"
He announces that, after working for others, his five minutes have come, so he has dedicated the next project from his studio to himself.
"I haven't worked for a few months because of the accident I had, but everything is slowly returning to normal.
I still have to finish the album for Labija, a hip-hopper from Kotor. I think she will also be successful because she is young, smart, interesting and one of the few female MCs in the region.
Lately, MTV has been in the mood to promote performers from Montenegro, it seems to me that that vibe suits them," Rhino is sure.

What he does for himself will be different from the beats he's designed for other artists.
"That's where I'm most free to experiment. I think the classic hip hop audience will be overwhelmed by my songs, because what I do sometimes goes into classical, jazz, trance," reveals Rhino.
