Former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl has been fronting the band Foo Fighters for more than two decades. Grohl, who was a member of Nirvana from 1990 to 1994, admitted that he still can't listen to the music of the legendary band, which broke up after Kurt Cobain's suicide, because it's too personal for him.
In a new interview with British magazine GQ, Grohl talked about how difficult it was - and still is - for him to listen to Nirvana.
"For years I couldn't listen to any music, let alone a Nirvana song," he said.
"When Kurt died, every time I heard a song on the radio, it broke my heart!"
Even 25 years later, little has changed for the Foo Fighters frontman.
"I don't listen to Nirvana songs, although I always hear them somewhere. I get in my car, they're on the radio, I go into a store... I remember everything about those songs, I remember what shorts I was wearing when we recorded them or the weather that day. .."
"However, sometimes I remember everything and find new meanings in Kurt's lyrics," Grohl adds.
"I'm not a revisionist, but sometimes it just hits me. 'Wow, I didn't realize I felt that way at the time.'"
In an interview with the magazine, Cobain's widow Courtney Love revealed some details of Kurt's and Grohl's relationship, Croatian Index writes.
"Groll was a boundless bundle of energy, not only a great talent but also very funny...Kurt compared his energy to a dog. Dave made Kurt very happy. He always had a joke ready to 'break' Kurt out of a bad mood ".
