The former guitarist of the legendary British band "The Smiths" Johnny Marr rejected the news about the reunion of the band, stating that "he has other work", the British "Guardian" reports.
Mar denied it on his "Facebook" profile after writing on an internet site that the iconic rock group is reuniting and that they will have a tour in the fall.
"I don't know where such things come from. Certainly not from me, because I have other work," Mar wrote.
Marr's former bandmate Mike Joyce also dismissed rumors of a possible Smiths reunion.
"I don't know where such things come from. Certainly not from me, because I have other work," Mar wrote on Facebook.
"As far as I know, there is nothing to it. Which is perhaps good," Joyce said in an interview with "Beat Wolf Radio".
"If it's all happening without me, then I don't know. And if I was involved, I would probably know about it," he added.
The British alternative rock band "The Smiths", which was founded in Manchester in 1982, consisted of Stephen Morrissey, Johnny Marr, Andy Rourke and Mike Joyce.
Critics consider them one of the best bands of the British 'indie' scene of the '80s.
They released four studio albums, only to break up in 1987 due to disagreements between Morrissey and Mar, the band's key members.
They left behind a large circle of fans that is still growing.
