Uzbekistan's state television has declared war on rock and rap music - in a documentary show, those two musical genres were characterized as "immoral and drug-addicted" and that they were created by the "Western side of evil", reports AFP.
Rock, as presented in the show, originated from African hunting rituals, and rap in prisons, which is why the singers wear long and baggy pants.
AFP reports that the authorities in Uzbekistan have launched a campaign against rock and rap through a TV show where they are presented as "sadistic, drug-addicted and immoral".
Viewers are warned about the "destructive influence of Western rock and rap music that hangs over the heads of Uzbek youth like black clouds."
"This satanic music was created by the forces of evil to push the youth in the West into complete moral degradation," reports AFP.
The documentary also mentions scientific research on the impact of music on people's health, according to which rock and rap lead listeners straight to death, while classical music can cure all kinds of diseases.
The government in Uzbekistan has tightened its tone against foreign cultural products in recent months.
AFP reports that at the beginning of the month, the broadcasting of two Russian TV channels was suspended on the territory of the country due to the broadcasting of sexual content.
Uzbekistan is the most populous country in Central Asia with 28 million inhabitants, 90 percent of whom are Muslims.
