The frontman of "Del Arno band" Jovan Matić said that his reggae band plans to celebrate its 25th anniversary on July 2nd with a concert in Belgrade and the release of new songs, most likely in the form of an album by the end of the year. Before the performance on February 6th in Belgrade's KST, on the occasion of the birthday of the famous reggae musician Bob Marley (1945-1981), Matić told the Beta agency that it will also be an introduction to the celebration of a quarter of a century of the "Del Arno Band".
"The concert at KST will have a party feel, we will try to have fun, share a cake if there is one and blow out candles. It is actually an introduction to the band's celebration on July 2," says Matić. "Del arno band" was founded by the brothers Vladan and Jovan Matić on July 2, 1986 in Belgrade. The first success was the final of the Subotica festival "Youth 1988", and with frequent line-up changes, they released the albums "Igraj dok te ne sruše" (1989), the live album "Monkey Year" (1992), "Reggaeneracija" (1995) and "Time vode" (2006). Matić explains the small number of studio albums in the quarter of a century of the band's existence by a large number of personal changes, and mentions that more than 150 musicians have passed through the "Del arno band" since its foundation. "That's when we stopped counting. The first 25 For years, we tried to have a team that would be able to present the band live. We should have dedicated a few months to each one, but it turned out that for many years we were just rehearsing the new members," says Matić.
According to him, there are several scenarios for the celebratory concert in July, "the content is known, which is a retrospective of 25 years, but not the volume", because the choice of venue will depend on potential sponsors and patrons." Del Arno Band" is currently " active in preparing new songs for the new album", planned to appear by the end of 2011, and Matić says that the new material will be "more on the trail of the original reggae sound". "Besides recording the album, the plan is to continue recording new songs in a continuous series, in order to make up for the insufficient discographic presence so far. In the future, we will be more engaged in studio work," announced Matić.
