The album of Bosnian musician Damir Imamović called "Singer of Tales" was released for London's Wrasse Records in the midst of the epidemic of the COVID-19 virus, however, despite the ongoing pandemic, it is doing extremely well on the world music charts. After a series of excellent reviews in the British, German, Dutch and South Slavic press, the album "Singer of Tales" has been in the top five of the two most important world music album charts for the third month. In July, it topped the Transglobal World Music chart.
The Transglobal World Music Chart (TWMC) was established in 2015 and gathers music critics, editors and journalists from all over the world who once a month vote for their favorite albums released in a given period.
The album "Singer of Tales" is the result of three years of work in which Damir gathered a fascinating international team: the American double bassist Greg Cohen (known for his collaboration with Tom Waits, John Zorn and many other artists...), the master of Turkish classical music Deri Turkan (his Kemenče marked the albums of Kudsi Erguner, Erkan Oğur and many others) and Sarajevo violinist Ivana Đurić (member of Damir Imamović's band Sevdah Taht).
The album was produced by cult London producer Joe Boyd (known for his collaborations with Pink Floyd, Nick Drake and many others) and Andrea Goertler (Saziso). Over twenty concerts of Damir's international quartet are scheduled for April and May 2020. The tour was supposed to include the London Barbican, the Brighton Festival, the Brussels Balkan Trafik Festival, the Klangvocal Dortmund festival and other performances. The entire tour has been canceled due to the pandemic and new dates are scheduled for late 2020 and spring 2021.
