Bajagi Lifetime Achievement Award

Musician Momčilo Bajagić Bajaga won the "Darko Kraljić" award for 2019, for musical creativity/lifetime work in the field of popular music, which will be awarded on Tuesday, October 27, in the hall of the Association of Composers of Serbia (UKS), announced from associations.

The decision was unanimously made by an expert jury consisting of Radoslav Graić, president, and composers Vojkan Borisavljević, Zoran Lesendrić, Srđan Marjanović and Aleksandra Milutinović.

"Momcilo Bajagić has a rich discography and a large number of hits that place him at the very top of the rock scene in Serbia and ex-Yugoslavia, and today his concerts gather a large audience, both in Serbia and in the region," the jury said. They point out that the winner of the award is a rock musician, composer, songwriter, guitarist, vocal soloist and frontman of his group, and write about the musician's recent successes and the concert that marked his 35 years of artistic work.

Conductor and composer Vojkan Borisavljević concluded on behalf of the entire jury:

"The author's creativity belongs to the very top of popular music in our region, his compositions have always evoked deep emotions in all generations of listeners, and the song "My friends are my friends" is the unofficial anthem of all displaced people from the former Yugoslavia."

Musicologist Ivana Trišić, president of the Association, says that the work of Momčilo Bajagić is characterized by his inexhaustible musical imagination, immediacy and unobtrusiveness of expression in the interpretation of the author himself, as well as emotionality, which is irresistibly transmitted to the listeners, and the lyrics he writes for his songs have artistic value. and independent of the musical content.

Before the band Bajaga and instructors, Momčilo played as a rhythm guitarist with the group "Riblja chorba". Behind Momcilo Bajagić Bajaga is a rich discography, a large number of hits, which place him at the very top of the rock scene in the former Yugoslavia. He also left his mark when it comes to music in the domestic film industry. The musician is still active today, and his concerts are well attended.

It is estimated that Bajaga and his "instructors" have sold more than five million audio carriers so far.
