One of the biggest Balkan stars, a Macedonian singer Tose Proeski, received a monument in Nova Gradiška on Saturday. Toše tragically lost his life in a traffic accident on the highway near Nova Gradiska on October 16, 2007.
The statue of Tošet Proeski was made by a sculptor Slavko Bunić, and the ambassador of North Macedonia was present at the ceremonial unveiling Milaim Fetai, mayor of Nova Gradiska Vinko Grgić and the mayor of Proesko's hometown - Kruševo Tom Hristovski.
The very idea and decision to make a stone statue of Tošet Proeski, which is part of the love and respect for him and the entire Macedonian people, came from the company Tehnix and its president Đura Horvat.
Toše lost his life when he was only 26 years old, and many fans and colleagues still cannot mourn him today.
Toše knew from an early age that music was his destiny and in the nineties he regularly performed at the Macedonian children's festival "Golden Slavejče", and even then it was clear that he would be a big star.
Later, he built a career beyond the borders of today's North Macedonia and left behind numerous hits such as "Tajno moja", "I follow you", "Igra bez granica", "Whose are you" and "I love your smile" through which he will forever be among to us.
He was also remembered for his charity work, he received Mother Teresa's award for numerous humanitarian performances, he was UNICEF's goodwill ambassador and helped children, and his song "This world" was declared the organization's anthem.
