Bosnia and Herzegovina sevdah band Divanhana, after more than two years since their last song, presented the single "Ćilim" to the admirers of their work. It is about another author's composition of this popular band.
The text for the mentioned song was written by Samir Šojko, and it dates back to the war years when, during the aggression against Sarajevo, several romantic verses with a recognizable dose of Bosnian humor were born on the banks of the river Miljacka.
The music for this track is signed by as many as nine authors, where in addition to the members of Divanhana, the members of the popular Austrian band Russkaja also contributed.
"For many years, somewhere hidden in the pocket of the clothes for the concert, there was a text by Samir Šojka that we received as a bequest from Mrs. Enisa Hajdarević Šojko. The text, which was written in the mid-XNUMXs, told a romantic story that, with its beauty and sense of humour, defies a difficult time experienced by the people of Sarajevo. Just then, in that ferocious hopelessness, during the washing of carpets on the banks of the river Miljacka, a new sevdah was born. This is the sevdah that we wanted to share with the whole planet," said the band's pianist Neven Tunjić.
The song was recorded in Ljubljana, during February 2020, in the iconic Metro studio. The production is signed by producer Janez Križaj, and Borjan Milošević and Neven Tunjić.
Many guest musicians, such as Rok Nemanič on the trumpet, Goran Bojčevski on the flute, and Slavonian tambura players Ivan Bobinac and Ivan Josipović wove their notes into "Ćili".
"The rug was filmed in pre-pandemic times, during our stay in Ljubljana. From this perspective, I could say that this song is a kind of echo from our past lives, the time when we moved freely, socialized, played, sang and hugged with songs. For us, Ćilim is the herald of a new time that, I'm sure, will awaken only the good in people. Together with our friends from Slovenia, Croatia, and friends from Russia, we wove into this song only the most creative and sincere things we could bring forth, in order to give our esteemed audience an explosion of the new sevdah that is yet to come", said singer of Divanhana Šejla Grgić.
The video was realized by Sallex Perić, a longtime creative associate of the band, who is responsible for the direction, animations and editing.
