The legendary Slovenian band "Lačni Franz" retires from the stage on January 2023, XNUMX, and says goodbye to the fans with a regional tour, as part of which they will perform in Novi Sad tomorrow. and on the first of October in the Youth Center in Belgrade.
"The time has come to say goodbye in the way that our brand and band deserve. This fall, we are saying goodbye to our audience with a series of concerts in the region, under the common name, 'Grand Finale'. The concert program is a selection of songs from all our albums. In the band's 43-year career, we released 13 studio albums, two live albums and four compilations, and played over 2.000 concerts. From 1.1.2023/XNUMX/XNUMX Lačni Franz is going down in history," he said Zoran Predin.
This is how this iconic new wave band led by Zoran Predin, after 43 years of successful career, stops working. In the exclusively original music, in the initial period of their career, the influences of local folk heritage, jazz, as well as elements of cabaret, blues, but also the rich experience of Anglo-American art rock and post punk could be heard. Domestic critics often labeled their music as cabaret rock, while today the international label "hard indie" is attributed to them.
In the timeless lyrics of their songs, says the announcement of the concert in Belgrade, Zoran Predin's lyrics provoke with irony and sarcasm, mischievously interweaving eroticism with politics and social taboos with dark humor. Most of the texts are almost always ambiguous, which gives them recognition and an alibi, the organizers add.
Novinar Petar Janjatović, who followed their work, pointed out that it was one of the bands whose songs required "a built-up attitude and an engaged brain".
"Hungry Franz, in that messy time of the new wave, were a group loved by the more demanding. Their songs demanded a built-up attitude and an engaged brain. Zoran Predin was recognized both by critics and colleagues as one of the most important Yugoslav rock poets. Kind of new wave Arsen Dedić. Because of those songs, true fans of Lačno Franz overcame the obstacle of the Slovenian language. Because it was worth finding out what was going on within the themes 'Don't breathe for my collar', 'May your lips be painted with a kiss', 'Jebiveter', 'Wait for me', 'On my side and the eternal Proslav,'" writes Janjatović.
The rock band from Maribor was active from 1979 to 1997, and then the team reunited in the winter of 2005-2006. and held a series of concerts in Slovenia, as well as throughout the former Yugoslavia. Since 2014, Lačni Franz has performed in a rejuvenated line-up consisting of: bassist Anej Kočevar, drummer Luka Čadež, Boštjan Articek at the keyboard and Tina Chas on guitar, with frontman Zoran Predin.
The band performed several times in Montenegro, and on one occasion in an interview for "Vijesti", Predin, on the occasion of the band's many years of service, pointed out that he was glad that there were people of all ages among the fans.
"Sometimes it's good to look at your past and learn something from it. But I'm more interested in the future. In its two phases, in the first fifteen years until the mid-nineties, with its first line-up and nine albums, Lačni Franz firmly positioned himself as part of the Yugoslav new wave. And later in 2014, with a junior line-up and two albums, the electric release 'Svako dobro' and the acoustic 'Acoustic kiss', he confirmed and upgraded his status among the young audience as well. Today, our concerts are full of people of all ages," said Predin at the time.
