The musical sensation from Bosnia and Herzegovina - the group "Mostar Sevdah Reunion" presented a new, twelfth studio album. The project called "Lady Sings the Balkan Blues" will be a prelude to the new tour of the band.
The story of the Mostar Sevdah Reunion began in 1993, when Dear Sestic, a producer and former member of the band, recorded an ensemble audio cassette with several tracks that was distributed in a limited edition among his friends.
Those were wartimes in the Balkans and the reason for filming was just an escape episode to forget for a single moment all the ugly things that were happening at that moment. Then they made a promise that "the whole world will know about sevdah" - one day when the war comes to an end.
They fulfilled their promise and recorded the first album "Mostar Sevdah Reunion" in 1998. From that day on, they fascinate their audience wherever they go.
The songs on the new album "Lady Sings the Balkan Blues" talk about loneliness, a girl who "lies lonely and gets up lonely", about aging while waiting for that loved one, about "the first one that caught her eye", an unwanted arranged marriage, desires and dreams... of deep love desire and longing.
The last song on the album "When the Music Stops" was recorded in memory of the late singer and friend Milutin Sretenović Sret, with whom he was supposed to record a new release.
The permanent lineup of the band worked on the album Mišo Petrović (guitar solo), Sandi Durakovic (rhythm guitar), Senad Trnovac (drums), Vanja Radoja (violin), Gabriel Prusina (piano) and Marko Jakovljevic (down).
The special guests were Boris Vuga (accordion), Ivan Sušac (trumpet) and Orhan Maslo (percussion). The lady who brought this album to life with her voice is Antonija Batinić.
Antonija is a girl from Kupres, who became popular singing rock, jazz and blues, and performs with the Mostar Sevdah Reunion at concerts throughout the region and the world.
