The film "Barbie" can be seen as a commercial success, but also praised by critics. However, the famous singer Shakira is not enthusiastic. She called director Greta Gerwig's work "castrative", convinced that the film "makes it impossible for men to be men".
In an interview with "Allure" magazine, she talked about feminism and reflected on "Barbie", revealing that her sons did not like the movie at all.
"They thought the movie was castrating. I agree to a degree. I love when pop culture tries to empower women without stopping men from being men, protecting and contributing. I believe we can give women all the tools and confidence we can without losing our essence, without losing our femininity. I think men have their purpose in society and women have theirs. We are complementary to each other and that complementarity should not be lost," explained the singer.
