Podgorica rappers Big Do and Coka have released a music video for the song "Viši nivo", which can be viewed on the YouTube service. The track was released under the independent label LYLT, which since 2022 brings together several Montenegrin rappers, including Med Meks, Rixon, Bvne and others.
The music is by Radosh, the video is by ShootMode (both members of the LYLT label), while the song was recorded under the producer baton Stefan Pantović Stega, best known to the public as the frontman of the rock group Parampaščad.
Ado Radoncic, who stands behind the pseudonym Big Do, told "Vijesti" that he has known Coko for ten years, so the collaboration came about completely naturally. Actually, it should have happened earlier.
"For some time we have been planning to 'make official' the collaboration with a joint song, but as it usually happens with us, something backfired. I can freely say that it's our 'guilt' because it's not like nothing was recorded, from both sides. He was a bit more productive than me in that field the last two years, so a couple of months ago he released the EP 'Million' for LYLT, a few singles and videos while I was on a 'charger' in general from everything. Until now, we only had collaborations in the form of live performances, there were also some demo recordings, and of course a bunch of freestyles, which has been an indispensable part of our socializing for years. I wouldn't want to go too far into the future, but for now there are plans for some more joint songs and videos with Coka, more on that later," announced Big Do.
Most of the video was recorded in Stefan Pantović's "Stivi" studio while the song was being recorded, so everything happened in, as the rapper from Podgorica said with a laugh, a family atmosphere.
"Because, personally, when I enter the 'Stevi' studio, I feel at home, and the producer Stefan Pantović is responsible for that, and he welcomes me like that. I have no doubt that it is the same with the other artists who record in his studio. Anyone who knows him at all, I think will know what I'm talking about. Stega-Mega-Giga,” added Big Do.
It's been almost three years since his EP "Niko kao ja", and Big Do admits that he hasn't been particularly active since then, except for collaboration with Stričevi, a duo consisting of Loš and Jevro.
"I think the EP went quite well, as far as listening live, I think the energy I wanted to convey was felt in that direction - excellent. As for views and likes, which is what a lot of music is based on today, then it's desperate. (laughs) Reviews are not a measure of success for me and I don't have any particular message that I want to send through my music, I like to create as it moves me and as I feel. I still don't follow trends," says the rapper defiantly.
He revealed that he is planning another project in collaboration with Stega (Stefan Pantović), which will be supported by PAM (Music Author's Rights), but that he will inform the public about it later. He is also planning an EP with Shtulla, as he said, his old friend with whom he started rapping. If he doesn't change his mind in the meantime, adds the rapper.
Looking back at the domestic scene, Big Do is of the opinion that there has never been rap anymore, but that the performances of rappers are not equally represented. He has the desire to perform, but for now he has no concrete plans. He says he likes it the most.
"That's where my psychological satisfaction lies. I love that feeling of performing live, when I merge with the beat, the microphone, priceless. For me, that's the best part of creativity, when you have the opportunity to demonstrate your work on the spot, even if they accept you the way you are, then there's nothing else to ask for..., except maybe a little money", he adds with a laugh.
As he said, the rap scene in Montenegro is booming, and now, in his opinion, there are even more good, young performers compared to before.
"I would mention Med Mex before everyone, because the guy has already done a lot, and he's just getting started. There are other names, of course, I am not disputing anyone's quality. All in all, I think we can do even better, primarily speaking for myself. And now it's a good story all the way, I feel a bit fresh after the break, we just need to position ourselves where we belong, we're not so invisible, I guess. I think we have a lot of quality rap. Thanks for your attention, have a nice evening," Big Do concluded.
